Jack Lalanne's Lessons Live On at Fitness Playground

Lawrence Phillips' ever-growing list of clientele don't want to spend an hour doing the same old thing to get the same old results. LP's foundation in training came from the fitness industry's patron saint and pioneer Jack Lalanne. "Move your body vigorously for 20-30 minutes... doing something different every time and you'll get a better result" says Phillips. LP knows what he's talking about. After 32 years in the business, the folks he trains keep coming back for more, giving LP an almost cult-like following that any gym owner or manager would envy. "I have been training with Team LP Fitness for over nine years. It has made a dramatic impact on my physical and mental attitude. It has made my own workouts more effective and given me more energy for work and play", says one Team LP devotee.

LP's training is based in his Pure Energy program, something he developed to give his members an efficient and and motivating workout. His "fitness toys" as he calls them, are meant to keep everyone in motion and challenged. And like any trainer worth his salt and sweat, LP knows a good thing when he sees it. After trying out Marpo Rope Trainers by Marpo Kinetics at a trade show in San Francisco he knew he had to have them. "We're always doing something different and that's where the ropes come in. I brought them back to my studio and they've been a big hit."

Marpo Rope Trainers are not your father's nautilus machines, nor are they the ropes you climbed in gym class. These machines offer the ability to do cardio conditioning, but with the caloric burn that makes a jog on a treadmill feel like a half-hearted trot at getting your heart rate up. A quick adjustment on the resistance gearshift and you're getting an upper body strength workout that feels akin to doing pull-ups and crunches at the same time while swimming through quicksand, attacking the muscles in your entire torso with a workout that no circuit of free weights can touch. Reverse the pull on the rope and you're doing squats for a lower body burn that gets the glutes, quads and all the other bits you would otherwise need multiple machines to get to.

Just like LP, the Marpo Rope Trainers don't mess around. After using one, it's hard to imagine going without the amped up workout that Marpo Rope Trainers, and Team LP have to offer. Jack Lalanne would be proud indeed.
